In this article we will look at some of the different community service essay samples you can use to supplement your college or university writing projects. There are two schools of thought with regards to community service.On the one hand you have those who believe that you should only write in the context of practice runs. This could be three hours a week over the course of several months, or a few months. In this case the person who volunteers his services would be practicing and honing the skills that he will need when he actually makes it into the 'real world'. The short term 'practice run' is a way to sharpen the skills that he will need to get into the workforce.On the other hand, you have those who argue that community service, like many other things, should be taken as a career option. They believe that the skills that you gain during a short term volunteer project will come in handy later on. In this instance the person would continue to work towards a more successful career, but he might also go back to school to improve on what he has learned while working on the community service project.Community service essay samples are certainly important. As a member of a community you are always striving to improve, and if you don't hone your skills you will find yourself falling behind. Even though these service projects are not supposed to last for years, they can be a very valuable time to hone your writing skills.As someone who works on a day job, and spend hours of each day researching, writing, proofreading, and editing articles and other pieces of work, you should be able to make a real difference in the lives of others. I think that a student who polices a book store, and helps others find books and magazines on various topics, and makes a real difference by helping individuals find their book of the week, is doing his part to make the world a better p lace. It would also be a great benefit to take these projects a step further, and take them a long way into the future.For example, rather than simply starting up a service project one time a week, you might take your work as far as making it a regular experience. That way you will begin to gain confidence in your skills, and will be better prepared to do so in the future. If you wanted to start a project that would have some serious impact on a community, such as teaching teens how to golf, then that would be an even greater project. You could also do something else, such as community organizing for instance, and for that you will need to be well rounded, and learn the skills that you need to turn ideas into action.The time spent on a service project is not always paid, but it is certainly much better than working for free. Once you have been on the road for a while and you see that people are really willing to help you, you will have no trouble making good money on these projects, because they are also improving your skills.Whatever you choose to do, the final decision on whether or not to do a service project is ultimately yours. Of course, you need to think about how much you are willing to invest, and how much your skills will be valued. You must decide if you want to pay for your own college education, or if you would rather rely on government loans.

December 17, 1992 The past decades their has been a dramatic increase of women participating in the labour force from countries all over the world including Canada. In 1950, one Canadian worker in five was a woman. By 1980 this percentage had doubled, and women are expected to make up more than 44 percent of the labour force by the end of this century. The increase in female participation started occurring during the 1970's. This increase also caused the largest baby boom that the Canadian female labour force had ever witnessed. In North America it is common for women to have part-time or summer jobs, and the participation rate of teenage girls is high. It is also mostly high throughout the world in places as United Kingdom because of the fewer women going to school. But in places like France, Italy, and Japan the female participation rate is very low. In most of the countries the labour force is most participated in the age groups between 20 and 24. The labour force of mature women is very high in Sweden, because of the encouraged day care facilities which also provides the females with legislation that provides them with excellent benefits. In Japan there is a drop in female economic activity, the reason why is it affects their marriage and the care of their only child. An observation of labour force participation rates in Canada show that female rates rose a lot between 1971 and 1981, while the male rate rose unnoticeably. The increase in the female participation rate was found in all age groups except in older women. For women aged 15 to 19 the rate was as almost as high as the men. But the largest increase was in the age group of 25-44 years old, where the rate rose almost 50 percent. This meant that the participation rates of the females had become more alike with the men. Family status also influenced the female participation rate but later on during 1981 it had a more less affect than in 1971. According to statistics just over one quarter of married women with young children were working, but this later changed and grew by 76 percent over the a 10 year period of time. The rate also showed an increase of 47 percent for widowed, divorced, and separated women with children. However single women with young children showed a slight decrease. However the female participation rate is not so much related to family status as today as it was many years ago. During the period of 1971 through 1981 the involvement of married women went through a major change. Fewer women saw marriage as a r eason to interrupt their participation in the job force, and couple tended to postpone having children or not having any at all. While women with young children tended to participate less in the labour market and quit their jobs more frequently than men. Females did the exact opposite of what men did when they had children while working, and in some cases were actually more stable than men without children. This showed that the couples attitude towards having children influenced a decrease in the female labour force participation rate. In 1981 most women spent an average of 1,247 hours a year working, compared with 1,431 hours in 1971 which had dropped about 15 percent. Even men saw their average hours decrease by 13 percent. Not only more women were working, more were working part-tim for only part of the year which meant more women on the unemployment rolls. In the 1960's the unemployment rate for females was 3 percent and ten years later increased to 7 percent. Since june 1982 th e unemployment rate for men was 11-13 percent and the women's just above that rate which could also exceed that of the men near the end of the century. Only about 11 percent of women had part-time jobs because they couldn't find full-time employment or because they wished to spend more time to their education or their families, or for other reasons. The writer of Save the Last Dance for Me shows us that the partner trust his girlfriend by means, he lets her dance with another man in such as they can have fun and the man can hold her tight. The speaker tells us that Who gives you the eye, let him hold you tight (2). These lyrics means that the stranger can look at her in a way that communicates romantic interest, as for that a man who tells his lover that she can flirt with him shows lot courage to tell that. As for in Then He Kissed Me cites us that woman is not a shy character. In this song, she is not controlled by anyone but herself, stating that she showed a positive gesture by dancing and telling how she feels about the man. The writers informs us that I didnt know what to do/So I whispered I love you/And he said that he loved me too (13-15). It shows how the girl didnt hesitate to wait for few dates, but instead urges to tell him how she felt about him, is a sign of confidence . The two songs display several repetitions of phrases. The repeated line So darlin save the last dance for me has cover up of jealousy implied in the suggestion that the songs object could quickly forget who she arrived with at the dance in the first place. In Then He kissed me Greenwich uses the line And then he kissed me repeatedly. Every time she says that line, it confirms her love towards him, by describing the kiss as a turning point in her life. Both songs portray several similarities between the relationship of the man and his girlfriend, in which the composer also shows confidence toward their partner. Confidence seeps into your body. All that non-verbal communication, the way you walk, the way you stand, the eye contact you make, all comes from how you see yourself in your mind. If you dont have confidence in yourself, you cant have confidence in your relationship. And if you dont have confidence in your relationship, youll find it impossible to trust the other person. Language is the medium in which people interact and communicate for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and feelings. Language acquisition has been one of the most intriguing aspects of human nature and had been the focus of different disciplines. For the most part, language acquisition had been theorized and conceptualized in different ways all of which was to determine where language came from and how it developed. On the other hand, the multicultural aspect and globalization of our society have made it almost a necessity to learn English as the most favored international language. Most educational curriculums in the world integrate the learning of English as a second language especially in areas where the first or native language is structurally different from English (Gitsaki, 1998). According to Krashen’s (1981) model of second language acquisition â€Å"acquired and learned languages are different†. Language acquisition is a subconscious process brought about by the meaningful interaction of the individual with the target language while learning a language is a conscious process which results in conscious knowledge about the language (Krashen, 1981, p. 103). Learning a second language is a complex process that can be affected by different factors, one of the most leading issue is that of how first language affects the teaching of English as a foreign language in the classroom. Several researches have reported that first language proficiency strongly predicts English language learning (Clay, 1993; Snow, Burns, Griffin, 1998), moreover, a strong correlation between first language fluency and learning English was also reported (Hiebert, Pearson, Taylor, Richardson, and Paris, 1998). Children who have to learn a second language generally have to use first language in comprehension and analysis of the information exchanged in the second language. Therefore the impact of first language to learning a second language can be facilitative while it can also interfere with learning a second language such as English (Bialystok, 2002). This literature review would present what has been known about the role of the first language in learning English as a second language in the context of classroom learning as well as how teachers can effectively use the first language to the teaching of English. Each beautiful, illuminating the night sky along with the moon, far away yet close enough to admire and wonder. I sit sometimes outside and just look up and gaze in wonder at the stars, but the scientists in me thinks further. The stars are like our sun in the solar system, hydrogen balls, exploding, radiating energy and light in all directions yet we are so far that we see them as specks in the night sky. Then there are those night where Venus and Mercury can be seen among the stars, almost a spiritual experience. Science has taught us that gravity and other laws of nature control the movement of such celestial objects and control everyday happenings where most would not give it a second thought.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In life we all seek the truth, the truths about the universe; our surroundings. Some people seek the truth through what science tells us. The Big Bang Theory tells us that there was a massive explosion where concentrated matter is scattered all over what is the universe and over time the planets and other systems formed to their current states. Then some seek the truth through religion and God and so we have the story of Genesis from the Bible. Fritjof Capra, author of The Tao of Physics, was a high-energy physicist who conducted years of research in his career and understood his surroundings as a physicist but through his learning the religious philosophies of Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism saw his surroundings are more than that. Capra saw a rhythm that surrounded everything.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   â€Å"I ‘saw’ cascades of energy coming down from outer space, in which particles were created and destroyed in rhythmic pulses; I ‘saw’ the atoms of the elements and those of my body participating in this cosmic dance of energy; I felt its rhythm and I ‘heard’ its sound, and at that moment I knew that this was the Dance of Shiva, the Lord of Dancers worshipped by the Hindus.† (Capra, 11) Ultimately Capra discovered for himself and argues is the view of the world explained through physics and the view given by philosophies such as Hindusim, Buddhism and Taoism are parallel to each other.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  According to Capra, knowledge can be divided into to parts, rational and intuitive. Everyday we learn, we gain knowledge of our surroundings and from our everyday happenings.
